C Primer Plus by Stephen Prata is a good book to C beginners. The C Programming Language by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie cannot be missed, since one of the authors, Dennis Ritchie, invented the C.

Currently I'm about to start reading Build Your Own Lisp by Danial Holden. Tiny Python Projects helps me a lot on Python, so I think a similar book on C would also help me make more progress on learning C.
